Finn Cox, Practicum Student
he/him, BA

Finn is a social work student at the University of Victoria currently learning with Sound Youth Counselling and The Drop. He began working with people as a personal trainer in 2017 with a focus on movement for elders, disabled people, Queer folks, and anyone who doesn’t feel safe or welcome in traditional fitness spaces. After training in aerial acrobatics and hand balancing for several years, Finn got his start working with children and youth teaching circus arts. He has since learned from Knowledge Keepers across Turtle Island how much health of mind and spirit inform our bodies, and the importance of holistic, relational healing.

Growing up through the 90s as a Queer person in Parry Sound, Finn experienced first-hand why representation and community are so vital. After beginning his post-secondary education in psychology, he pivoted to social work to focus on building community and support networks. His experience since has been informed by advocacy and education around 2SLGBTQIA+ topics.

Outside of work and school, Finn can usually be found reading, writing, making music, or in the woods with his dogs.
