February: The shortest or the longest month?

On the calendar, February is the shortest month of the year. But in real life? It often feels like it goes on forever.

The holidays are over, winter is still very much here, and spring feels close enough to imagine but too far away to touch. The days are longer than they were in January, but that springtime warmth hasn’t arrived. There’s a strange in-between feeling, where nothing new has fully started, and nothing old has quite ended. Or maybe that’s just us?

If you’re feeling the same, let’s figure out how to enjoy this month!

  • Shrink the timeline with bright spots

Instead of “getting through February,” focus on one week at a time (or even one small thing to look forward to). A lunch with a friend? New book? Saved podcast episode you haven’t gotten to yet? Start your Netflix watch-list?

  • Lean into rest

If you got caught up in the “make your new years resolution” momentum, it’s okay to pause and slow down. Goals don’t have to be accomplished right away. Slower days are allowed.

  • Notice the subtle shifts

Catch the moments: A little more daylight, a milder afternoon, the hint that change is coming.

February may be short, but it feels long enough that it teaches patience. And patience, quietly, is what carries us into spring.
